go away, summer
I officially cracked it with summer today. Over it. The stressed trees are in full-on Autumn mode. I walked around the garden, which is burned and terribly dry, and thought - ok, enough is enough. Not that this sort or thinking has ever caused the rain to fall or the temperature to plummet.
I'm sick of thinking up hot weather dinners, of sleeping under a sheet with the fan on, of being unable to work in the garden because of the killer sun. Everything seems harder to achieve in heat - going to work, doing the chores, sleeping. I get irritated by people who romanticize summer, as if we're all living bayside for four to five months with nothing to do but picnic, eat ice-creams and have dips in the sea. I am repulsed by other people's feet so - hard season for me, the squeamish one. Put some flippin' shoes on. The slap, slap,of rubber thongs and feet..... like fingernails on a blackboard. Eeew.
I've had my whinge now.
In other news:
Day 3 post op: this morning - not good. If I were the type of person to use a sad face emoticon, this is where I would put it.
However - the pain is much better today ( after a rough night) and yesterday and today have been MUCH better food-wise. Jelly, soft poached eggs, more Weetbix.
I really think the anaesthesia is at the root of all the bad reactions.
Laundry is progressing well - I did some painting yesterday, husband has done lots today. I need to go around and check for any thin areas tomorrow with my little brush, then next weekend we can do the bench and shelves.
For a cheapie fix-up, we're really thrilled by how nice and clean it's looking already.
I'll add it all up next week: I think it's cost about $200 - maybe a little more - because a new can of undercoat had to be purchased. Bargain basement renovating, for sure.

I'm also from Melbourne and i hear you loud and clear, please, just one day when we can go out and 'do things'. Gosh it's even too hot to go to the market.
ReplyDeleteSorry your patient is not improving, hope she feels better tomorrow.
lyndel - she's on the mend, but it has been harder than we anticipated, for sure!
Deletewell and truly over summer
ReplyDeletehad it
blah
off to sydney tomorrow, humid and hot which i hate but rain which i love
like you I loathe summer and have had enough. I have things to do and am sick of hiding indoors from the relentlessness of it all. and we need rain so desperately
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your girly is still suffering - anaesthetics can really knock you around. And of course the heat wouldn't be helping with that at all. Hope she picks up soon.
Could'nt have put it better myself LG re summer- I cannot make myself do anything but the essentials in this weather!! We live in country Vic near Kilmore and the paddocks are almost a grey colour, very depressing. Dust everywhere..and the constant fear of fires as well. Can't wait for winter!!! Keep soldiering on with the wisdom teeth,my daughter had 2 out last year, and it's not a walk in the park. But it does get better!!
ReplyDeleteRain here today. Just the same I agree wholeheartedly. Summer is toooooo much, and lasts for too long.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that the anaesthetic is knocking your girl around. It is surprisingly hard on even the fittest of bodies. Glad that she is (finally) on the mend.
Couldn't agree more. As I pegged out washing in withering heat, I was thinking that summer should sod off to the northern hemisphere and take its debilitating heat and annoying insects with it. Why can't it always be autumn and spring? They are the nice Melbourne seasons.
