friday book review:Now Paul wants to play Library

When I was moving all the books back into the room that was painted a couple of weeks ago, I handled every one: put aside about 80 to give away, and also found all the books people had lent to me over the last few months. All the lends/unreads are now together and I'll get through them.

I started reading a Pen-lend - A particular eye for villainy by Ann Granger. I've only read about 60 pages but am liking it so far, It does remind me of the Victorian police procedurals written by Anne Perry ( I read them all in the early 90s) featuring policeman Thomas Pitt and his sleuthing wife, Charlotte.

I've been a bit distracted and too hot at night to read much this week.

I have been going through a pile of magazines I bought before and while on holidays that I never even looked at.... (Frankie/Peppermint/InsideOut/Women's Weekly, other randoms). I really should not buy magazines any more: I have just completely lost the ability to read or be interested in their contents. Also in one of them - no naming and shaming - the typefont is so TINY that my elderly eyes, even with reading glasses can't cope).

In the assembled pile of books I found two Little Golden Books my sister had lent me after we were discussing them one day - I don't need to own them but I wanted to look at them again.

Pretty amusing that I now get to Play Library three days a week....

  1. I love clearing out a bookshelf and finding books I'd forgotten, or had not seen for years. I know what you mean about 'some' magazines. Luckily our local library will be stocking frankie and peppermint from next month, so I may just pop down there regularly with my magnifying glass for a look.
