the impassable wilderness

I've just started reading the sequel to Wildwood and am already deep into the impassable wilderness of these magical books.

The teens and I visited the Louise Bourgeois show at Heide this morning ( thank you Ramona for the heads-up), and then had a really long walk around Banksia Park next door and then as far as we could go under the Manningham Road bridge to the Yarra River. Yes, wilderness ( in suburbia).

The LB show is very stunning and creepy -  torsos, heads, fabric, textures, a giant spider!

Seeing work like this from such an esteemed and accomplished artist, who created things for more than seventy years just makes my head spin. The depth and the passion behind it: awe-inspiring.

Daughter found it quite unsettling and could not stay in one room with some disembodied heads...

As she said: indie-hipster art for cutesy girls who like owls and bicycles it ISN'T.

  1. I am reading Under Wildwood too! I think I like it even more than the first book.
