for all the Kathie Winkle fans ...

I'm completely indulging myself and other Winkle fans with this post so anyone else reading can log out now, you'll be bored witless.

It's just that a post I wrote in November is still getting lovely people commenting, literally from many corners of the world, so I thought I'd put up a few photos for the obsessed.

Below, Mexico bowl, 1970. From Lakes Entrance op-shop so by rights it should belong to Sue M. Sue, if you ever come and visit..... you can eat from it. Aren't I generous?

Romany plate,1975. I didn't like this one for a long time until a very groovy friend asked specifically for this plate at lunch one day. Yes, I'm a sucker for the opinions of cool people.

Below:Romany - 1975, Eclipse - 1971, Indian tree - 1971 and October - 1974

Eclipse is the only piece I've ever bought on Ebay. My friend Neeny bought it for me. It was nine dollars. I've never seen it anywhere else in Australia.

A picture of dirty breakfast dishes chez nous. Ascot - 1962, Roulette - 1971, Rushstone - 1965, Geneva 1970 and Mexico - 1970.

  1. Aaargh, I love Kathie Winkle! I have been collecting her for years, but live near Lismore, NSW, so don't have the chance to get such lovely examples. I love the Ascot and Eclipse, I have never seen them before, and the shape of the cup is wonderful. I know there is a book..I should get it. Just by chance I got a whole breakfast set last week of which I will blog on Sunday for a meme. Please come and have a look...and sorry for gushing, I am just so excited that there are other Winkle lovers out there. xxNick

  3. Hi Nick, thanks for joining in the Winkle love, I think we'll need to develop a secret handshake soon. Funnily enough I was taken to Lismore to check out all the great second hand shops a couple of years ago - a lovely friend is a Northern Rivers resident. ( I especially liked that big antique barn on a corner). But now I know why there were no Winkles - you're right there to snap them up as they appear!

  4. You know, I still get comments on a Winkle post I did a few years ago, even though my blog is sleeping.
I have a Mexico dinner plate and I'd like to eat from your Mexico bowl.
Hmmm, I have a Romany bread-and-butter plate, two Rushstone bowls and a cup (no saucer), and had an Ascot bowl but it got broken. I used the patterned pieces when I mosaiced the kitchen hearth.
Love your bits and pieces. They almost make me want to photograph some of mine, wake up the blog and do a post!
    Cheers, Sue M.

  6. If anyone has spare "Mexico" bowl in blue/yellow please get in touch. My email dimi6000("at")yahoo("dot")com

Will make a good offer for one, or two bowl(s). It bears great sentimental value.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. Hi,
I had been resisting searching the net for Kathy Winkle, the joy of the op shop find can't be compared with a bid on ebay. Came across your site. I too have been collecting for a long time. I started the day I came across a whole dinner set of Kontiki complete except for one dinner plate at a garage sale in Middle Park , guess what I had that plate in my eclectic collection of crockery. That was 25 years ago.
Great to see some designs I have spotted before.
I'd love to find a teapot.

  9. I had an entire set of the Romany pattern when we were married in the early 1980s - little did I know then that it would become collectable - oh well !!!
