The lovely thing about having people over for lunch on Melbourne Cup day is that apart from A Good Time Had by All, the house is un-recognisably tidy and clean from the couple of frenzied hours spent cleaning before the guests arrive.

And now for a nice cup of tea and a piece of horse-bread (shortbread cut out with the pony shaped biscuit cutter, in honour of the day).
