The overdue cool change has just come through with literally a bang (thunder) and now it's raining all over the dry washing I didn't bring in. I don't care.
The only good things about summer in Melbourne are the fruit and the gin and tonics.
Not one other thing comes to mind. I loathe it, the summer. And now this disgustingness will be here until around the middle of April. This year, at least, we are escaping to lands of rain, fog and hot chocolate for a month, so hopefully that will make the rest of it a bit more bearable.
"Life according to Lubka" is turning out well. I was initially a bit taken aback with the really modern setting, and the main character, a music promoter called Buzz who manages bands called Knifey Spooney and Spam Javelins (clever) in London. Now it's settled in to the familiar Laurie Graham style and I'm enjoying it.
I've also started flicking through ( not really reading) the recently re-issued "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" by Julia Child. There is a very good and easy recipe for Cherry Clafoutis and as I have a big jar of pitted Morello cherries in the cupboard so I'm going to make this on Sunday.
Now it has stopped raining - of course. So it rained just enough to wet the clothes on the line, but not enough to water the garden. The house is still a furnace.
I told you I was cranky.
